Help with managing psychiatric or crisis intervention emergencies.

Behavior Disorders Centrec Care has a triage team (MD, APRN, LCSW) available to manage psychiatric emergencies and provides crisis stabilization Monday through Friday from 9am to 9pm. Patients who are acutely psychotic, high risk for suicide and/or homicide with a lethal plan and who present with over-riding medical problems are referred for inpatient treatment according to the organization’s emergency service policy.

Our program consists of face-to-face mental health and substance abuse services provided to individuals.

The services involve brief, concentrated interventions to stabilize psychiatric conditions or behavioral and situational problems including substance abuse, prevent escalation of psychiatric symptoms, reduce the risk of harm to self or to others, avert loss of housing, and wherever possible to avoid the need for hospitalization or other more restrictive placement, and direct the patient to appropriate available service for care. Services and interventions are highly individualized and tailored to the needs and preferences of the participant, with the goal of maximizing independence and supporting recover.

The patient is treated at our facility. We do not treat them off-site. Multiple staff members may be involved in the effort of treatment. The time frame to achieve stabilization ranges from an absolute minimum of one hour to typically several hours. The process is dictated by the circumstances and intensity of the event.

We will accept the patient immediately upon contact, whether by telephone inquiry or walk in to our St. Louis Behavioral Health facility. The staff and facility is available to perform the function, during our hours of operation, 9am to 9pm.
